Stags Leap Cabernet Sauvignon 1985

From the world renown Napa Valley, 1985 marked a milestone for Cabernet Sauvignon in the Napa Valley. The vintage has been acclaimed universally as one of the best of all time. We agree!

The Wine Spectator writes, " Very rich, powerful and concentrated with intense berry, cassis and cherry flavors that keep on developing. It has quite a bit of tannin and extract that should bode well for aging." 93

Connoisseurs' Guide says, "The barrel-sample of this wine impressed us as being much like the '84 only more so. The fruit is both deeper and brighter, the structure as tight, and the tannins as well-knit. Overall, our feeling is that this one is an even better wine and should be considered one of the best of a fine vintage."

Our estate-bottled 1985 Cabernet Sauvignon, Stags Leap District is produced from our six-acre vineyard in the heart of the Stags Leap District. This vintage produced small berries with great intensity of flavor. The flavors are of concentrated intense black-berry and cassis. The tannins are ample and the wine has our traditional smoky, toasty, truffle-like aromas from aging in French chateau-style Bordeaux-coopered barrels.

The blend is 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc. The wine contained .5g/100ml acid, a pH of 3.42 and 13.1% alcohol by volume. This vintage produced only 1,672 cases, including magnums and grand formats.
